The economic outlook for 2023 continues to look extremely challenging with the Bank of England predicting that the UK will enter a long recession. Businesses are already dealing with unprecedented challenges ranging from the recovery of the Covid-19 pandemic to the impacts of inflation. As a result, organisational budgets are coming under increasing pressure and leadership teams are looking at cost savings to enable the business to weather the storm and one approach to reducing costs is redundancy. When it comes to handling redundancy, getting the process right is essential. Here, we will discuss handling a watertight redundancy exercise, covering:

• Establishing whether there is a genuine redundancy situation.
• Considering alternatives
• Making an effective plan
• Consulting with those affected

Our ‘Getting redundancy right’ Virtual Boardroom is on Thursday 9th February at 12.30pm.

The session will be facilitated by Nathan Andrews. Nathan is a CIPD level 7 qualified and accredited Employee Relations Manager.
